He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Joanna Goring Johnston, who he married on 31 MAR 1973 in Havelock North, New Zealand. Their four known children were Ingrid Jean (1974-), Anja Louise (1976-), Heidi Johanna (1980-) and Saskia Alice (1982-).
His second wife was Jackie Hirst. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. They had no known children.
